It’s the ritual of romance on a weekend of weddings! Only Las Vegas could turn Monday’s Hallmark holiday to tie the knot into a four-day weekend of wonders. And it gets even hotter with Jersey Shore stars adding to the fireworks.
Even though Las Vegas takes on the mantle of marriage central, with well over 100,000 ceremonies and wedding licenses, there’s numerous other activities that we’ve rolled into one with the Valentine’s parties with a heart-shaped package tied in red ribbon that we affectionately refer to around here as the Royal Robin Rundown — and here it is delivered by Cupid himself.
First, though, a quick look at some of my favorite Valentine’s Day weekend highlights, as thoughts turn to love for sweethearts with red roses, champagne and chocolate-covered strawberries. The marriage license bureau is open around the clock, from 12:01 a.m. to 11:59 p.m., but can anything top Love itself from The Beatles and Cirque du Soleil at The Mirage as the ultimate Valentine’s date?
If tempting teddies and thongs, sizzling lace-topped stockings, burst-out bras and naughty negligees are the lacy lingerie on your love’s must-have list, then whip out your credit card for the high-priced sexcitement of Agent Provocateur in The Forum Shops at Caesars Palace, Love Jones at the Hard Rock Hotel with its outrageously sex-themed Provocateur Suite in the HRH Tower, the back-room delights of a sex boutique at the Wynn and Kiki DeMontparnasse at Crystals at MGM’s CityCenter.
There’s nothing more romantic than the love story of Jack and Rose onboard the ill-fated Ship of Dreams — the RMS Titanic — and the exhibit is one suggestion at the Luxor alongside Bodies: The Exhibit, where you’ll see some real heart .
Love doesn’t have to come with a high roller-sized price tag. Enjoy romance for free at the world famous fountains of the Bellagio. Every half hour, the water, music and light show blasts off from 3 to 8 p.m., and then every 15 minutes until midnight with opera, classical and whimsical music choreographed to explosions. The price is right: Nada!
Good luck, go fall in love, and enjoy everything that romance has to offer. Here are some of the party highlights:
